Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop July 2018 - Sketch

 Hello creative friends, I'm so glad you're here!  Today I've joined in on the Scrabooking Global Blog Hop and I am so excited for you to see all the fabulous pages created for this hop.  For todays hop we are all working with this sketch here...

For my layout today I decided to create my own background paper. I started by bringing out a favorite that I just haven't taken the time to play with in a while.  

For this page I knew I would be using a lot of water so I needed something that could handle it. So I decided to recycle the white cardboard piece that comes with those designer series paper packages.... I started by lightly sanding the paper to rough up the surface. Next I used a combination of the Prussan Blue, Moss Green & Yellow Brusho Crystal Colours to achieve the watercolor background I was going for.  

My inspiration was my daughters graduation gown and I just played around by sprinkling color, spraying with water and moving it all around with my heat tool until I achieved a look I was satisfied with. Let me just say, if you haven't tried Brusho yet, ((what are you waiting for?????)) I mean, you definitely should consider giving them a try 😉 Because they really do allow you to feel like an artist and play with color in a very fun way that never gives you the same results.....

Here's a quick money saving tip for ya.....

Don't be afraid to use your matting layers for smaller dye cuts because once everything is glued down you won't see the missing pieces. 😉

Of course I had to add a little stamping and the adorable gal from the hand delivered stamp set carrying a stack of books seemed the perfect accent to complete the look...

Finally I've added it to a 12x12 frame....  

I like to do this so that others can get the chance to appreciate it 

until I'm ready to switch it out for my next favorite layout of course....😉

Glitter Queens July Blog Hop - Christmas in July

Hello Friends and welcome to the Monthly Glitter Queens Blog Hop!
 This month we are having FUN playing around with the theme of Christmas in July

I know it seems pretty far off right now but it seems the older I get the quicker the Holiday Season seems to sneak up on me....

And I don't know if it's the same for you but there just never seems to be enough time in the day especially once December rolls around.

So why not enjoy a little Christmas in July and get a jumpstart on some of those Christmas cards....

Or at the very least we can get a jump start on pinning some ideas for all those cards we will want to make for the Holidays this year. 😉



 For this months theme, I wanted to challenge myself to create a card using colors and stamps that are not necessarily intended for Christmas and I must admit it was fun thinking outside the box and figuring out how to bring it all together.

Since the Hand Delivered Stamp set does not include gifts, I borrowed these gift boxes from the At Home With You stamp set and stamped them where the cake would be.....

I just used a piece of tape to cover the portion of the image I didn't want to use and then removed it prior to stamping so I ended up with just the hands and base

For the inside of my card after I had stamped my greeting it was just a little too plain.  Since the greeting was too large to add the sign image that comes with the Hand Delivered stamp set, I decided to try something else.   I traced the circle around the sentiment using one of the circle framelits. Next I added the hands by inking up just the hands portion from the stamp and added them strategically to look like she was holding the sign.  Afterwards I added a little watercolor wash of pool party ink which draws the eye nicely, don't you think?

I know it's been a while.......

I know it's been a while and I'm so sorry!!!

The last few months have been crazy to say the least....
BUT...... I'm happy to say I'm back and going forward I will be posting regularly! 

 I just want to be honest here and come right out and admit that I have not been good lately with managing my time.  Yep, I've been allowing the craziness of my days to control me rather than taking control of my days.. ((ouch that's a little hard to confess!)) But today it's a fresh start because part of a creative flourishing is admitting when we don't get things quite right, giving ourselves grace and finding the courage to try again....   

So with all that said,  I can hardly wait to be able to share with you once again as I intentionally make the time to allow myself the space to be creative.....
